Eloquent Applications get a New Public Interface

The new Eloquent Public Access is a single portal for the novice as well as the most experienced researcher. You start with a Google-style keyword and quickly learn to select authorized terms and combine them with to complex logic for more precise results.

Vancouver, BC – June 22, 2009 – Today Eloquent Systems is making a copy of the new Public Search Engine available for the public evaluation. It will become an integral component for all applications in the Eloquent WebSuite when they are released later this summer. It is designed to address diverse public expectation, ranging from a simple Google-style keyword searches for novice users to advanced capability giving experienced researchers precise results.

The new software is available with a public copy of the City of Toronto Archives database. You can view old photographs of Casa Loma, a large castle in the heart of the city, select subjects and proper names from authorized lists to use as search parameters, and explore 100-year-old government documents from the various municipalities that now make up one of the largest cities in North America.

You get a preview of the software and a few operational tips from the Search Training Video, available for download. For hands-on experience, you can do online searching into the Toronto database.

This intuitive searching capability is built into the WebGENCAT v4.2 database platform, and therefore will automatically become available for all Eloquent Applications – library, museum, archives and records management.

What you experience in the Toronto Public system is a result of the following:

  • WebGENCAT database platform
  • Eloquent Archives™ application
  • Custom tailoring for the Toronto data structure
  • Online help text that can be personalized by the customer

Contact Eloquent Professional Services for a demo of the system using your own legacy data or for a 60-day free use of the software for evaluation purposes.
