Video Presentations
The first two videos use our latest version of the software, Version 4.2. They both use a sample database from the City of Toronto Archives, which contains historical photographs and government documents well over 100 years old:
-
Basic Search (12-minute)
This demonstrates the very intuitive search using the Google-style keyword and a couple of other access points. It shows the powerful navigation capability to related information and for the display of attached digital content.
-
Precision Search (12-minute)
A link on the Basic Search takes experienced researchers into the Precision Search. It supports any number of additional access points, defined by the customer, and three additional features:
- The ability to use an access point more than once.
- The ability to pre-select specific search terms from the integrated tables of authorized Proper Names and Topical Subjects.
- The ability to combine any number of search terms with powerful Boolean logic. This includes nesting to any number of levels.
(Note: A high resolution monitor is best for the above videos.)
Eloquent Customers
The following videos use illustrations for Eloquent customer databases to illustrate the power and flexibility of the Eloquent Archives application.
-
Reference Services - Public Access
This presentation takes you into the public databases for a number of institutions, ranging from very small not-for-profit institutions to the holdings of large cities, states, provinces and universities. You will see interesting photographs protected with watermarks, HTML tree indexes, and the meshing of historical sites with Google Maps. The video also discusses the other aspects of the reference service function.
-
Building a Multipurpose Database
This video shows how institutions like the ones featured in our first presentation used Eloquent Archives software to quickly make their holdings available for public viewing. It also shows how their database of descriptive records and associated content becomes the core database for all their business functions: accessioning, reference services, tracking and space management.
-
Managing Boxes & Other Items
Many institutions spend so much time on the clerical and administrative activities related to managing boxes and other physical items that they lack time for supporting researchers. This presentation shows how an integrated software package can free up that time; making it available for more important professional duties.
-
Taking full Advantage of the Web
This video shows you how to take full advantage of the Internet – for building your own database and managing your holdings to providing seamless integration with other databases on the Internet. Even the smallest archival institution can tap into this technology and get world-wide visibility for their archival holdings. This video shows you how.
